A mental health worker accused of sexually assaulting a young boy has a long, troubled history with children. In June, 33-year-old Matthew Gatton turned himself into Westerville Police after being charged with two counts of gross sexual imposition against a child in his care.
Rourke & Blumenthal is representing the 11-year-old boy, and our investigation has uncovered dozens of other victims who were fondled under Gatton’s supervision and have yet to come forward. Our attorneys are appealing to the public to contact our firm with any information that might assist us with this pending case or to report any other similar incidents that might warrant legal action.
If you have information please contact us today at (614) 321-3212.
Public records show Gatton was previously reported to the Columbus Police for allegedly molesting a 7-year-old relative, and his personnel file contains repeated warnings and write-ups for inappropriate behavior with young children. Gatton was even disciplined by the Ohio Department of Education for educator misconduct, yet he was able to continue working with kids at Ventures Academy in Delaware, Kiddie Academy of Reynoldsburg, YWCA Columbus, The Columbus Academy Summer Program and Vineyard Columbus Church.
Mike Rourke, from Rourke & Blumenthal, said “Matthew Gatton should have never been allowed access to my client or any other kid in light of all of the red flags in his background. We hope that the public will come forward with information so that we can prevent him from harming more kids in the future.”
